The Afghan government stopped Kabul-bound trucks – loaded with export commodities – at the Torkham border from entering the country without a valid road pass, which suspended trade at the border. The border officials, while confirming the new development, said that on Monday the Afghan border officials banned the transit and other trailers, not having road permits, from crossing the border. He added that due to rejection of the Afghan government, hundreds of loaded trucks were parked in the parking lots of Torkham, and trade activity was suspended temporarily. Previously, the Afghan conciliate in Pakistan will grant registration copy to all trucks crossing the border to Afghanistan. President Torkham transport association, Azeemullah Shinwari said that earlier the Pak officials implemented the policy that was now followed by the Afghan government that added their miseries. Without prior information, the Afghan government made it compulsory and immediately effected for the truckers to produce road permit while crossing the Torkham border to Afghanistan that was impossible for them and the decision added financial loss to the transporter.
