ISLAMABAD: Indian troops shot dead three more civilians in Uri, Baramulla district of held Kashmir on Sunday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the forces cordoned off the village of Kalgi and began searching the residences there. The military claimed that they shot dead three people while responding to gunfire.
Meanwhile, a police official said five people including a security personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire, while two houses were damaged.
Indian security forces often open fire at civilians in the name of search operations in held Kashmir. Pakistan has been urging international community, the United Nations and human rights organisations to bring the state terrorism in Kashmir to a halt.
Acting Indian HC summoned: The acting director general of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summoned acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh on Sunday to condemn the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian army on the Line of Control (LoC), causing the death of Pakistani civilians.
He condemned Indian aggression in Kotli and Nikial Sub Sector back on September 22 wherein a 22-year-old woman, Tashiba, was martyred and two others were seriously injured.
Despite calls for restraint, India continues to break the ceasefire with 873 violations by their army which has resulted in the martyrdom of 39 civilians as well as injuries to 144 in this year alone along the LoC.
He urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement as well as calling for a probe into the incidents.
He said that the deliberate targeting of civilians was deplorable and contrary to international human rights and humanitarian laws.
He urged the Indian side to permit the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan to play its role mandated as per the UN security council resolutions.
UJC hails Pakistan PM: Hailing the Kashmir-centric speech at United Nations by the Pakistani PM, the United Jehad Council (UJC) has said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi truly represented the aspirations of Kashmiri people and exposed the ‘hollow and grim’ picture of Indian democracy.
“Freedom loving people of Kashmir wholeheartedly thank the Pakistani PM. He exposed India and presented the Kashmir picture in a true way,” UJC said.
The Pakistani PM while highlighting the atrocities of India in Kashmir gave a clear message to the world that long lasting peace in the region was impossible without the final resolution of Kashmir issue.
Syed Salahuddin hailed Pakistan PM for urging upon United Nations to nominate a special envoy for the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.
Hurriyat leaders concerned over escalation of tensions: The Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, has expressed serious concern over the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan and stressed on the leadership of both the countries to eschew bitterness and take concrete steps to resolve all issues including Kashmir amicably.
The spokesman termed situation at the borders as serious and stated that the basic reason for tension between the two countries was the lingering Kashmir issue. He said that the unresolved Kashmir issue was taking a serious toll on both countries.
The spokesman said without the resolution of Kashmir issue, peace in the sub continent would remain a challenge. “It is high time India and Pakistan took serious steps to resolve the long pending Kashmir issue before it takes an ugly turn,” he said.
He said that the Kashmiri people had rendered huge sacrifices for the cause of right to self-determination for decades and had created history by sacrificing lives and property worth billions. Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Geelani said that only tripartite talks could prove conclusive and result oriented for resolving Kashmir issue.
