The family and attendants of a patient went on a rampage in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) of Ayub Teaching Hospital and had damaged most of the equipment in the ward after the death of critically Ill patient in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to the detail, one Lal Khan s/o Pir Khan, a resident of village Tannan who was brought in the CCU of Ayub Teaching Hospital in a critical condition as per hospital sources, died at on Saturday night.
The family members and attendants of the said patient got aggressive and started protesting in The CCU claiming negligence of the hospital staff. The situation becomes so tensed that hospital.
The administration called the police to control the situation. Hospital sources claim that protesting people have not only damaged expensive equipment of the CCU but also manhandled with the staff on duty.
Police station Mirpur registered FIR under section 324, 354, 186,189 / 147, 149,427, 337, 5cardiog04 PPC on a written complaint lodged by Dr. Sheyaryar Umer who was performing duty in the CCU at night. Police have started an investigation and yet to arrest any person involved in the incident.
According to FIR, Patient Lal Khan was admitted in CCU was critically ill & all best treatment was provided to him but patient expired at 1.pm. It further stated that 30/35 attendants of the said patient got aggressive and damaged the equipment of CCU including two ECG machines, Portable Echocardiogram machine, Defibrillator, Computer system, and Emergency & medicines trolleys.
“Attendants physically attacked the staff on duty and attendants abused all the staff” adding that they have taken away record of other patients.
