LAHORE: Renowned journalist Taha Siddiqui has on Wednesday claimed that he barely escaped an abduction attempt from 10-12 armed men who stopped him on his way but he managed to escape and is safe with the police now.
Tweeting from senior reporter Cyril Almeida’s account, Taha Siddiqui said that he was on his way to the airport today when 10-12 armed men stopped him at 8:20am and tried to forcibly abduct him.
However, Taha says that he managed to escape and was safe with the police now. He also requested support from all in any way possible through the tweet.

It is not yet clear where the incident took place, why Taha was using Cyril’s account or how he managed to escape.
Asad Hashim tweeted the pictures of Taha Siddiqui after the attack. Taha can be seen muddied in the photos and also has blots of blood on his shirt too.
Asad said that it was only a miracle that Taha had survived ‘and only escaped by running through oncoming traffic’. “He was beaten, threatened with death and his belongings taken”, he said.
